no可作為形容詞，也可用作副詞；not只可用作副詞。no用作形容詞時(shí)，可直接置于名詞前。如果名詞前已有a, an, the, his, much, any等詞時(shí)，則應(yīng)該在這些詞前面加not。如：

　　There are no apples in the boxes. 這些盒子里沒有蘋果。(作形容詞)

　　—Do you like dancing?你喜歡跳舞嗎?

　　—No, I don’t. 不，我不喜歡。(作副詞)

　　It’s a duck, not a chicken. 它是只鴨子，不是小雞。(作副詞)

　　試譯：杯子里沒有茶。

　　誤：There is no any tea in the cup.

　　正：There is not any tea in the cup.

　　作副詞時(shí)，no有下列兩種用法：

　　（一）作為yes的反義詞，用在回答問題的場(chǎng)合，表示“不”的意思。例：

　　No，I won't go to the casino.

　　作名詞時(shí)，no表示“否定”的意思。例：

　　Two noes make a yes.

　　It's not cold today．
