Mr. White went into his usual teashop one morning, and sat on one of the seats at the counter.

　　Many other people came in also, but none of them stayed long.

　　還有許多人也進(jìn)來了，但沒有一個(gè)人呆得久。

　　About fifteen minutes later, a young man and a young woman came in.

　　大約十五分鐘后，一個(gè)年輕的男人和一個(gè)年輕的女人走了進(jìn)來。

　　There were only two empty seats at the counter, one on Mr. White’s left, and the other on his right.

　　柜臺(tái)上只有兩個(gè)空位子，一個(gè)在懷特先生的左邊，另一個(gè)在他的右邊。

　　The woman sat on one seat, and the young man sat on the other, but Mr.White immediately asked to change places with the young man so that he and the young woman could be together.

　　女士坐在一個(gè)座位上，男士坐在另一個(gè)座位上，但是懷特先生馬上要求和男士換座位，這樣他就可以和那位女士坐在一起了。

　　“Oh, that isn't necessary.” the young man said, but Mr.White insisted.

　　“哦，沒那個(gè)必要。”年輕男人說，但是懷特先生堅(jiān)持要換座位。

　　When the young man and the young woman were side by side, he said to her, “Well, this old man is very kind, he wanted us to sit together. May I introduce myself? My name is John. What's your name?”

　　當(dāng)年輕男人和女人坐在一起時(shí)，他對她說，“這位老先生很好，他想然我們坐在一起。我能做個(gè)自我介紹嗎？我叫約翰，你叫什么？”
